The game was won by Washington with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Brian McCann delivered a base-hit. Adeiny Hechavarria followed next and he slapped a single. Dee Gordon then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Jean Segura followed and he laced a single making Washington the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Lemahieu stepped up to the plate and he doubled. George Springer then would ground out which brought home a run. Daniel Murphy2 was up next and he doubled bringing in another run. Anthony Rendon stepped into the box and doubled scoring the final run of the inning. St. Louis threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Jonathan Schoop made sure the Detroit fans enjoyed themselves. He smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 4th inning, laced a base-hit in the 6th inning and doubled bringing in a run in the 8th inning. Detroit had a total of 15 hits for the game. Finnegan(1-1) went the distance for the shutout. Jake Odorizzi(0-1) took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 11 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings. The Detroit fans were thrilled by the performance put forth by Finnegan, but it was clearly his strikeouts that they enjoyed most. 'When he reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him their appreciation with a loud cheer.' Josh Callahan said following the game. Khris Davis had a big day at the plate. He doubled plating two runs in the 1st inning, ripped a base-knock in the 2nd inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 6th inning. The Kansas City offense poured it on, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings. Godley(1-1) went the distance for the shutout. Andrew Cashner(0-2) was given the loss. He gave up 6 runs and 5 hits in 1 and 1/3 innings. Godley was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time out!'

The Texas fans didn't appreciate the big day Jose Ramirez had. He depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand slam home run in the 7th inning and singled in the 9th inning. San Francisco managed 10 hits in their victory. The win was credited to Hamels(2-0) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs. Carlos Carrasco(0-2) was given the loss. He gave up 6 runs in 5 innings of work. In another of a string of victories, San Francisco extended their winning streak to 6 games. 'I'm glad to get the win', Hamels said. 'We've got some good momentum going now.'
