The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance provided by Alfaro. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 2nd inning, delivered a one-base hit in the 4th inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 6th inning. Overall Minnesota out-hit Atlanta 11 to 6. The victory went to Garrett Richards(14-10) who went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing 1 run. Matt Albers got the save, his 11th. Jose Urena(9-11) was the loser. ST. The game was decided in the top of the 9th inning. Yolmer Sanchez drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Joe Kelly then unleashed a wild pitch. Tommy Pham struck out, unable to help the rally. Yonder Alonso came up and he was walked intentionally. Chris Iannetta stepped into the box and drew a walk to load the bases. Ken Giles then threw a pitch that the catcher muffed scoring the run. Toronto took care of San Francisco with no trouble in the bottom of the 9th. The win was credited to Tommy Hunter(2-3) who went 2 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs. Kelly(4-5) was hit with the loss in relief. It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 and 2/3 innings of work. Andrew Benintendi led the offense for Pittsburgh. He laced a base-hit resulting in a run in the 2nd inning, hit a single in the 4th inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 6th inning. Pittsburgh finished with 16 hits in the victory. The winning pitcher was Severino(17-12) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Chris Archer(8-18) absorbed the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. 'He was really impressive today,' Archer said of his counterpart. 'Our guys were just swinging at air.'
