The final score was 8 to 6. Kansas City scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, J.D. Martinez got things going when he drew a walk. Dyson was running on the next pitch and he stole second. Matt Olson was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Mike Moustakas was up next and he was hit by a pitch. Jesse Winker stepped into the box and rifled a three-run blast. Chicago out-hit Kansas City 11 to 6, but Kansas City ended up with more runs. Scott Oberg(4-4) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Seth Lugo gained credit for his 9th save. Anthony Bass(4-4) was the loser in relief. Wth the win Kansas City now has a record of 40-44. With this loss, Chicago has a 6-4 record of late, 48-36 overall. Texas had 5 hits for the afternoon while Detroit had 2. Tommy Kahnle(2-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 2/3 of an inning and allowing no runs. Mychal Givens earned the save, his 11th. Alex Colome(4-5) was the loser in relief. He was pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 1 inning of work.
