Yelich enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 1st inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 6th inning. Cincinnati dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings. Gray(9-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 1 run. Michael Pineda(6-8) ended up with the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 4 and 1/3 innings. The Cincinnati fans were thrilled by the performance put forth by Gray, but it was clearly his strikeouts that they enjoyed most. Cole(9-7) simply dominated Cleveland. He didn't give up much, just 3 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.72 to 3.50. Baltimore had 13 hits for the game and Cleveland had 7. Lucas Giolito(7-5) was the losing pitcher. He was touched for 6 hits and 2 walks in 3 innings. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Cole offered, 'The fan's really got into it. Washington scored 4 runs in the 7th inning when they came up with 3 base hits. The biggest moment was provided by Dee Gordon who made the crowd come alive when he tripled bringing in two baserunners. Washington finished with 7 hits in the victory. Carlos Martinez(2-3) got the win allowing 1 run in 2/3 of an inning. Felipe Vazquez preserved the game for Martinez, recording his his 17th save. Walker Buehler(7-6) was hit with the loss. Washington now has a record of 44-42. With this loss, Los Angeles has a 5-5 record of late, 54-32 overall.
