The game started off with Atlanta taking the lead in the first scoring one runner using 3 hits. Harrison Bader stroked a base-hit. Starling Marte dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Bader was safe on a stolen base. Freeman was up next and he slapped a single. Manny Machado stepped into the box and lined a one-base hit scoring the run. Atlanta finished with 13 hits in the victory. The win was credited to Gilbert(6-6) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. Framber Valdez(3-8) was given the loss. He pitched 7 innings giving up 8 hits and 3 walks. Kansas City scored the winning runs in the 9th inning plating 3 runs. After an out was recorded, Jason Heyward started the rally when he drew a walk. Adolis Garcia followed, but he was set down on strikes. Alec Bohm then drew a walk. Willson Contreras followed next and he lost the ball over the fence for three runs. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. The victory went to David Robertson(5-4) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing no runs. Alex Lange(0-2) suffered the loss in relief.
