Boston won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning with 3 runs on 5 base hits. William Contreras opened up the inning nicely when he slapped a one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Anthony Volpe came to bat and laced a single. Justin Martinez then had one get away for a wild pitch which scored a run. Ramon Laureano followed next and he delivered a base-hit bringing in another run. Laureano took second on the throw. Laureano proceeded to steal third base.
